Alan Charles Schmidt, 54, of Marissa, IL; born May 15, 1958 in Mehlville, MO; passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Peoria, IL.

Alan loved agriculture and was involved in it all of his life. He was a farmer and currently a regional manager with Specialized Fertilizer Products (SFP). He was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus and Sons of the American Legion and a member of the Southern Illinois Fertilizer Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Shirley, nee Franke, Schmidt.

He is survived by his loving wife Jeana, nee Hentzel, Schmidt whom he married on April 23, 1982 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL. He will be sadly missed by his two adoring daughters – Jackie Schmidt (Friend Phil Weaver) of St. Louis, MO; Joanna Schmidt of Marissa, IL. Two brothers – Rodney (Diane) Schmidt of Apex, NC; Elmer (Lynn) Schmidt of Columbia, IL. Father and mother-in-law – Marvin and Dorothy Hentzel of New Athens, IL. 1 brother-in-law – Joel (Angie) Hentzel of McCalla, AL. 2 sisters-in-law – Jan Taake of O'Fallon, IL; Julie (Mike) Crowe of Edwardsville, IL. Uncle Al will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Alan's name to St. Agatha Parish and will be received at: St. Agatha Catholic Church; 205 South Market Street; New Athens, IL 62264.

Visitation: Friends may call at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm (Rosary service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, Knights of Columbus service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday) and on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Funeral: A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00am with Father James Nall officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held in St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
