Harold H. "Joe" Haubrich, Jr., 83, of New Athens, IL; born on February 10, 1934 in St. Louis, MO; passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Joe went to St. Agatha's Grade School in New Athens and graduated from Christian Brothers College Prep High School in St. Louis. He attended Quincy College before enlisting in the Air Force and serving tours in both Japan and Korea. After Korea, Joe went to work at Peabody Coal Company retiring from there in 1994. Joe was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church. He was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus Council 1952 and a 3rd degree in St. Pius X Council 3789, serving as council treasurer for many years and devoting many hours to their weekly bingos. He was an active member of the Belleville Cursillo Organization. Joe was a long standing member of the United Mine Workers. He was a member of the New Athens Community School Board for 15 years. In retirement, Joe and Ann enjoyed traveling with their family. His faith and family were his two passions.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Harold Sr. and Gertrude, nee Mueller, Haubrich. A sister – Barbara Mohr Haefner. A sister in infancy – Mary Beth. His grandson – Andrew Alton Mueller. Father-in-law – Alton Hawkins and mother-in-law – Lucille Hawkins.

He is survived by his loving wife Ann, nee Hawkins, Haubrich whom he married on June 27, 1959 in Shoals, IN; Daughter – Anita (Roy) Mueller and their two children, Son -Theodore (Stephanie), their children – Andrew and Everly. Daugher – Alyse. Daughter – Annette (Kevin) Schreder and their four children, Son – Jason (Morgan) and their children – Noah, Mae and Kolbe. Son – Bryan. Son – Matthew. Son – Eric. Daughter – Mary Beth (Robert) Cockrell and their two children, Daughter – Elizabeth (AJ) Shule. Son – William.; Son – John David (Lisa) Haubrich and their two children, Son – Otto. Daughter – Anna Lucille.
His brother – John (Mary) Haubrich and his sister-in-law – Virginia Osborne and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Agatha School or St. Agatha Parish.

Visitation: Friends may call at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm (Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:00pm, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Chalice Service will be held at 7:00pm) and on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:00am

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:00am with Father James Nall officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held in St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
