Donald G. Averbeck, Sr., 59, of Marissa, IL, born February 11, 1956 in Red Bud, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. Mr. Averbeck was a dairy herdsman for 20 years cdl boom truck operator at Wright Building Center for 13 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL and a member of The St. Louis Metropolitan Pigeon Fanciers Association, Inc. and the National Classic Old Frill Club.

Mr. Averbeck was preceded in death by his father, Henry Averbeck, 1 brother; Leroy Averbeck, 1 sister; Louise Derringer and 1 brother-in-law; Gary Derringer.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Lynn M., nee Conway, Averbeck, of Marissa, whom he married on August 13, 1977 in St. Libory, IL, 2 sons; Donald G. Averbeck, Jr. of Coulterville, IL and Jason D. Averbeck of Swansea, IL, 1 daughter; Amanda L. (Chad) Bumann of Marissa, IL, his mother; Josephine, nee Luecking, Averbeck of St. Libory, IL, 4 brothers; Jim (Jackie) Averbeck of Waterloo, IL, David (Karen) Averbeck of Marissa, IL, Mark (Diane) Averbeck of Hoyleton, IL and Leon (Brenda) Averbeck of Lively Grove, IL, 2 sisters; Joan Derringer of Ellis Grove, IL and Brenda (Steve) Greaney of Lively Grove, IL, 1 brother-in-law; Larry Derringer of Perryville, MO, 2 granddaughters; Lillian and Madelyn Averbeck, and a grandson who is due to be born in September.

Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery fund.

Visitation: Friends may call at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, IL with Father Steven Poole officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
